Gomis mta
A great place for anyone who wants to enjoy nature, fresh air, and outdoor activities in the mountains
about the location
Gomis Mta (also spelled Gomismta) is a high-altitude resort in Georgia, located in the Guria region at an elevation of about 2,100 meters above sea level. This resort is known for its picturesque views, clean air, and excellent conditions for summer and winter vacations.

  • One of the distinctive features of Gomismta is the wooden houses built on stilts, which are often constructed in the style of traditional Georgian huts. These houses not only create a unique atmosphere but also provide protection from humidity and the cold.

  • From this vantage point, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Black Sea, which are especially impressive at sunrise and sunset. This is one of the few places where you can see both the mountains and the sea at the same time.

  • The area around Gomis Mta is rich in diverse flora and fauna. Rare species of plants and animals can be found here, making this place of interest to nature lovers and ecotourists.

  • From the peaks around Gomisi Mta, you can see endless carpets of green forests, which look like toys from this height. The mountains, like ancient guardians, rise up all around, creating picturesque silhouettes against the blue sky. But the most amazing sight here is the “sea of clouds.” In the morning, when the first rays of the sun touch the mountain peaks, a soft white ocean of clouds spreads out beneath your feet, slowly rolling across the valleys. At moments like these, it feels as though you’re floating above the world, enjoying a rare and unique view.

About the "Sea of Clouds"
Gomis Mta is known for its unique natural phenomenon, which locals and tourists call the “sea of clouds.” In scientific terms, this is known as a “cloud sea.”
This occurs when mid-level stratus clouds spread across mountain valleys, creating the impression that you are looking at an endless sea of clouds.

Reasons for the appearance of the “sea of clouds”:
1. High-altitude location: Gomis Mta is located at an altitude of about 2,100 meters above sea level, and stratus clouds form precisely at altitudes up to 2,000 meters.
2. Climate characteristics: Moist air rising from the Black Sea meets the cooler mountain climate, leading to moisture condensation and the formation of a dense layer of clouds.
3. Season: The sea of clouds is most commonly observed in spring and fall, when the temperature contrasts between day and night are particularly stark. However, this phenomenon can also be seen in summer, especially in the early morning or evening.

Visiting Gomisi Mta and witnessing the sea of clouds is an unforgettable experience that attracts many tourists and nature lovers to the area.
