Hiking in Georgia has become easier
Sairme columns

Racha is an incredibly fascinating region with plenty of attractions. One of the main highlights for us is the landscape shaped by nature through erosion. These include karst caves, gorges, and a variety of rock formations.
The Sairme Columns are among them. These are limestone outcrops rising from the middle of the forest, with interesting shapes. Long ago, they were part of the seabed.

This is a marked trail that’s 3.8 km long if you start at the beginning of the dirt road. The elevation gain is quite small—130 meters. You can drive closer, which will cut the distance in half.

For those who are a bit more experienced—though it’s still not particularly difficult and, in our opinion, more interesting. You’ll climb one of the rocks themselves.

For safety reasons, we recommend going there only in good weather. There are crevices and holes in the rocks at the top, and when it rains, the rocks crumble.

There are fallen trees lying across the trail in several places. This makes the route feel more rugged and interactive. So if you feel like scrambling a bit—great; if not—go with the first route.
