Summer: Hot, 20–35°C. Nature is in full bloom—the perfect time for hiking. It’s best to visit in the morning; in the afternoon, the pass is often shrouded in clouds.
Fall: Late fall—until December, the forests blaze with gold and red, creating picturesque landscapes.
Winter: In the depths of winter, snow on the road blocks access to the mountain and the observation decks. Snow usually falls in January and February.
Spring: It arrives early, in February, but the snow lingers at higher elevations.
Each season lends the mountain its own unique beauty, making it a delightful place to visit.
Legends of the Mountain of the Nine Crosses
  • The Legend of the Nine Sons
There is a legend about nine sons from the same family who went off to war. Their father prayed every day for their safe return. As a sign of his faith and hope, he decided to erect crosses on the Tkibuli Mountains. He carried nine crosses on his shoulders to the mountaintop and established a shrine there. After the war ended, all of his sons returned home safely. Since then, the shrine has become very popular.

It is said that long ago, during the invasions, nine brave warriors defended the local people from the invaders. After their heroic deaths in battle, nine crosses were erected on the mountaintop in their honor. Since then, the mountain has become a symbol of courage and self-sacrifice.

  • The trip by car (taxi) will take about 3–4 hours, depending on traffic conditions and your starting point in Batumi. The route passes through the city of Kutaisi.
