We’ll leave Batumi around 7–8 a.m. (the departure time is approximate and subject to change); the drive will take about 3.5–4 hours. We’ll make a restroom stop along the way. We’ll drive along a very scenic road, enjoying the views of the cliffs.
We’ll make another stop at the Goderdzi Pass and drive past it, leaving Adjara behind and entering a region with a completely different natural landscape.
This is our only one-day tour to Samtskhe-Javakheti, and it’s a great chance to explore the forest and riparian ecosystems of this region.

We’ll arrive at the starting point, have a snack, and set off on our hike. The trail will take us past several lakes, and along the way we’ll pass through various types of forests. First, we’ll walk through a spruce and fir forest, look for mushrooms there, and then have lunch by one of the lakes.
Afterward, we’ll continue on our way and reach pine, aspen, and oak forests. Each has its own mushrooms, plants, scents, and scenery.
We’ll walk through beautiful, varied terrain with views of mountains and lakes.
The total distance is approximately 10 km.
The elevation gain is about 500 m.

We're heading home
We head back to the car, enjoy some hot herbal tea with tasty treats, and drive home. We arrive in Batumi around midnight. Yes, it’s not an early return. But a trip to Samtskhe-Javakheti to pick mushrooms is an adventure well worth it! We try to plan our itineraries so that you spend enough time in nature, and the drive doesn’t take up most of the day.
Our itinerary has been carefully planned down to the last detail, but nature has its own way of things. Some parts of the route may be rearranged depending on the weather and other factors—so that each destination is revealed to us in the best possible light.

"Medium difficulty"—what does that mean?
You can tackle these trails even without hiking experience, but you need to be in good physical shape. These are long trails with significant elevation gain. Some trails may also include technically challenging sections or steep slopes. We recommend wearing hiking boots.
You can find detailed route descriptions in the "Itinerary" section: it always includes the distance, elevation gain, and any challenging sections.
