A flint in a metal case

A compact fire starter for building a fire while hiking. Unscrew the case and the flint, hold the rod against some prepared dry tinder, and drag the flint's striking edge along it, directing the sparks onto the tinder.

The rod is stored inside a metal case. Threaded connections with O-rings protect it from moisture. The case’s ribbed surface and the handle with a grip make it easy to hold, and a cord with a ring helps keep the parts of the set together.
